In this programme Alan starts by looking at the equipment and materials needed for pen turning and shows in detail the important process of preparing the blanks. He then demonstrates how to make a basic pen including the essential finishing process and detailed assembly instructions. This is followed by a matching propelling pencil and then by several material and design variations using the basic pen mechanism.
Having mastered the basic principles, Alan leads you on to some of the more complicated pens and also mixes things up a bit by using materials other than wood.
