One hazard associated with laser cutting is the potential for a fire. This is especially true when cutting aluminium and mild steel. When these two metals are cut together, they create a dangerous byproduct known as ferrite. Ferrite is a mixture of aluminium and steel powder that can ignite and cause a fire. To prevent these types of fires, it’s crucial to separate aluminium and mild steel when cutting.
To mitigate the risk if cutting mixed material, we suggest thoroughly cleaning any built up material in the filters when swapping from one material to another.
The purpose of the Anti-explosion fume extractor is to contain and release in a safe manner any explosion that may happen which is caused by fine aluminium dust particles building up in the fume filter.
The Anti-explosion fume filter has the below components to help reduce and contain such explosions

This Fume filter does not prevent and explosion and will only contain it should this occur, Daily, and weekly maintenance is still required and must be carried out.
